Al’s background includes being a policeman and then a fireman with the city of Calgary before becoming involved in the healthcare technology world in 1983. In June 2015, Al retired as CEO from QHR Technologies, a company he founded in 1997. Since his retirement, Al, along with his wife Irene, has been actively engaged in several community philanthropic causes such as Cops for Kids, Foundry Kelowna, KGH Foundation as well as other child related organizations such as World Vision.
By taking an active role in contributing and generating funding for various organizations, Al brings his business energies and experience to help those causes that he and Irene are involved with. Al and Irene have lived in Kelowna since 1981 and enjoy spending time with their three married children and six grandchildren. Giving is a family affair with the Hildebrandt clan.
